Eligibility
To be eligible for Graduate membership, you must have completed an accredited Australian or recognised course in engineering in the past four years. Check your degree.
Postgraduate students are also welcome and may qualify for a concession membership rate.
Where to start
If you’re a student member, you’re ready to apply as a graduate. If not, head to our member portal to create an account.
You need ID – such as a passport photo page, current driver licence or copy of your birth certificate – plus your degree certificate (testamur) or Letter of Completion, or a previous assessment letter from us.
Next steps
If you don’t need a competency assessment, membership applications take about three business days. You'll receive an email when it's completed.
When you receive the acceptance email, login to your account on the member portal.

Graduate membership gives you the opportunity to start your career with prestigious post-nominals beside your name. Depending on your occupational category, you gain one of the following:

Pricing
We offer membership on a financial year basis from 1 July to 30 June, and applications include a $95 application fee.
Pricing is determined by membership grade and whether a competency assessment is required.
Recent graduates are supported with free graduate membership until the end of the financial year.

Graduate membership FAQs
Most membership applications take three to four business days to process. If we need more information to process yours, we'll contact you with a revised timeline.
In Australia, roles in the engineering profession fall within three occupational categories. A fourth occupational category is available for the purposes of migrant skills assessment.
Pricing is determined by your membership grade and whether you need a competency assessment.
If you join mid year, we will pro-rata the fee on a monthly basis so that you only pay for the months you're with us.

Your employer has the option to cover your membership fee. You can:
- Forward your invoice to them.
- Request the use of the company credit card for payment.
- Request that they call us directly to make payment on 1300 653 113
If your employer wishes to include you on their group invoice, they will need to contact us with your details so that you can be added for the next financial year.
