Tasmanian Chartered engineer wins Women in Resources Award

Engineers Australia Chartered Member Dr Sabrina Sequeira was one of seven outstanding resource sector workers recognised at the 2021 Women in Resources Tasmania awards.  

The project engineer and university lecturer and took home the Exceptional Woman in Tasmanian Manufacturing Award for her work.

The Tasmanian Minerals, Manufacturing and Energy Council said, in the announcement of her award, Dr Sequeira sets a powerful example to women or other underrepresented groups about what they can achieve in their careers and influences others to be more tolerant and understanding of diversity in the workplace.   

Her current role is with Lighting Protection International as the Project Engineer and Quality Assurance and Environmental Officer, though her diverse engineering background and career spans across mechanical, aviation, building and aquaculture engineering. 

Alongside this, Dr Sequeira continues to lecture at the University of Tasmania, passing on her knowledge to the next generation of engineers.  

Dr Sequeria and the winners of each category at the Resources Tasmania Awards will now go ahead to the national awards, hosted by the Minerals Council of Australia in Canberra, on Wednesday 1 September.
